Modern glass processing with special expertise in energy-efficient building facades

OVERVIEW

Glassense (previously Klaasimeister) is a leading specialty glass processing company, focused on producing energy-efficient insulated glass units for buildings, ranging from complex building facades to windows. Founded in 1997, the company first became a local champion in its industry and now exports heavily to the Nordic markets, with an impressive growth profile throughout its history. Marquee projects include the Oslo airport and the Helsinki library. Livonia acquired a majority stake in 2019 to support the company's further expansion in the Nordics and beyond, building on the strong foundations laid by the company's founders.

In 2022, Glassense acquired a Latvian facade unit manufacturer Transparence, and merged with an Estonian glass processing company Polar Glass (Baltiklaas) to become one of the leading European glass solutions providers for buildings. The combined group employs approximately 400 people and is composed of four production facilities, of which three are in Estonia and one in Latvia.

Sustainability & WHY WE INVESTED

Being a specialist manufacturer, Glassense offers its customers superior flexibility and a wide variety of value-add processing capabilities, which have been the key success factors in growing the business in the Baltics and Scandinavia. Among other things, Glassense's triple glazed insulated glass units offer customers an excellent balance between energy efficiency and function.
